Community guidelines

Last updated: 22 October 2026.

What this community is for

Inzenzo is a place for people who work with perfume materials: perfumers, students, hobbyists and suppliers who want to learn. We share formulas, record how ingredients smell over time and help each other get better. These guidelines describe the behaviour that keeps that useful. They sit alongside our Terms of service, which are the legal agreement.

Be respectful

You can disagree about a material, a ratio or a technique. Say what you notice and why, and leave the person out of it.

  • Critique the work, not the maker. “This accord feels flat after an hour” helps. “You clearly have no nose” does not.
  • No harassment, threats, hate speech or slurs, and no targeting someone because of who they are.
  • Beginners are welcome. Answer basic questions kindly, or skip them.
  • Do not follow a member around the site or keep contacting someone who has asked you to stop.

Share your own work and credit others

  • Post formulas you made yourself or have the right to share. If you adapted someone else’s formula, say so and name the source.
  • Do not post a formula, a supplier document or a perfume composition that belongs to an employer or client, or that someone gave you in confidence.
  • Formulas you publish are public. Keep back anything you want to stay secret.
  • Do not copy another member’s posts, evaluations or formulas and present them as yours.
  • Only upload images and text you created or have permission to use.

Keep evaluations and notes honest

An evaluation is only worth sharing if it reflects what you actually smelled.

  • Record what you smelled, at the dilution and times you chose. Do not invent results or copy another person’s notes.
  • Say when you are unsure. Smell is personal, and your impression may differ from someone else’s.
  • Mention the supplier or batch if it affects the result, and keep it factual.
  • If you were given a sample or paid to review a material, say so.

Stay safe and accurate

Perfume materials can irritate skin, trigger allergies and be restricted by law. Information here is for learning, not a safety clearance.

  • Do not present a formula or a usage level as safe, compliant or IFRA-approved unless you have checked the current IFRA Standards and your supplier’s safety data sheet.
  • Do not recommend ingesting, injecting or applying undiluted materials, or using perfume materials in ways they are not made for.
  • Do not share instructions to make or buy materials that are illegal or restricted where you live, including materials from protected species.
  • If you correct someone about safety, link the source. Sources help more than certainty.

No spam and no selling

  • Do not post adverts, affiliate links, referral codes or repeated links to your own shop, brand or channel.
  • You can mention a supplier or product when it answers a question or backs up a review. Say if you have a connection to it.
  • Do not offer to sell materials, perfumes or formulas through posts, comments or messages.
  • No mass-posting, no fake accounts and no using one account to boost another.

If you run a business and want to work with Inzenzo, use the contact form.

Protect privacy

  • Do not share another person’s private details, such as their address, phone number, email, workplace or photos, without their permission.
  • Do not post private messages or screenshots of them without the sender’s consent.
  • Think before you share your own details in a post or comment. Public posts can be seen by people who are not members.
  • Do not try to work out who is behind an anonymous or private profile.

Keep the site working for everyone

  • Do not scrape, bulk-download or copy the ingredient library or community content.
  • Do not try to get around limits, security or privacy settings, or reach accounts and data that are not yours.
  • Do not upload malicious files or links.
  • Use one account per person.

How we enforce these guidelines

We review reports and look at the context before we act. Depending on what happened, we may:

  1. ask you to edit or remove a post;
  2. hide or remove the content ourselves;
  3. limit what an account can do for a time;
  4. suspend or close the account, for serious or repeated breaches.

We can act straight away on spam, threats, privacy breaches and anything that puts people at risk. Where we can, we will tell you what we did and why. If you think we got it wrong, reply through the contact form and we will look again. Our full approach to moderation is in the Terms of service.

Report a problem

If you see something that breaks these guidelines, use the report button. On a post or a formula it is the small flag at the top right. On a comment it is the Report link under the comment. Pick a reason and add a line if it helps. Your report is private: the member is not told who reported them, and we do not take action without looking at the context. For anything that does not fit a post or comment, such as a profile or a safety error you spotted elsewhere, use our contact form and include the link. Please do not reply in anger or call the person out in public. Reporting is faster and keeps the conversation friendly.

Changes to these guidelines

We may update these guidelines as the community grows. When the change is significant, we will say so on the site. The date at the top shows the latest version.
