Privacy policy

This policy explains what information Inzenzo collects, why, who can see it, how long we keep it and what you can do about it. We have tried to write it in plain language. “We”, “us” and “Inzenzo” mean the operator of this website.

Last updated: 22 October 2026.

Information we collect

We do not ask for payment details, because the site does not take payments at the moment. If that changes, we will update this policy and tell you what is collected.

Technical information in more detail

  • When you log in, WordPress, the software the site runs on, records your IP address and browser type in your login session so you can stay signed in and so unusual sessions can be spotted.
  • When you post a comment, WordPress stores your IP address and browser details with it. This helps us fight spam and abuse.
  • To limit abuse, such as repeated sign-up or password reset attempts, we keep short-lived counters that use your IP address. They are stored in a scrambled form and expire within hours.
  • Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, page requested and time).
  • To protect the contact form and sign-up from spam, we use a hidden field, a timer and limits on how often they can be used.
  • We keep a simple daily count of how many times each ingredient page is viewed. The count does not identify you.

Why we use your information

  • To run your account: sign you in, verify your email, reset your password and keep your profile.
  • To provide the features you use: save your formulas and evaluations, show shared content, count likes, and email you the notifications you ask for.
  • To keep the site safe: prevent spam, fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms and fix technical problems.
  • To understand what is popular: for example, which ingredients are trending.
  • To contact you about your account and important changes to the site or our policies.
  • To meet legal duties and respond to valid legal requests.

We do not use your private evaluations to profile you, and we do not use your personal information to show you advertising.

What other people can see

  • Public formulas can be seen by anyone, including search engines, with your display name and photo. You can make a formula private at any time, and then only you can see it.
  • Your profile page shows your display name and photo, and anything you add to your profile. The site setting decides who can open it. In the standard setting, the full members list is hidden, but your profile opens from your formulas. You can also choose to hide yourself from the members directory in your account settings.
  • Comments and likes are visible next to the formula they belong to.
  • Evaluations are private by default. If you share one, logged-in members can see it, with your name, answers, notes and chart, in Notes and on the ingredient page. Visitors who are not logged in see only the ingredient, the dilution and the date. Unshare or delete it, and it disappears from those places.
  • Your email address is not shown on your profile or next to your content.

Your choices and controls

  • Edit your details in Account settings: display name, bio, location, website, photo, email and password.
  • Hide from the members directory and turn comment emails off under Preferences in Account settings.
  • Share or unshare an evaluation on its page, or delete it.
  • Export your evaluations to a CSV file from the Evaluate page.
  • Delete your account from Account settings, if that option is available for your account. We delete your profile, photo, formulas, comments, likes and evaluations. A short delay may apply to copies held in backups.
  • Ask us for a copy of your information, a correction, or help with anything above: see “Your rights” below.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use only the ones the site needs:

We do not use advertising or analytics cookies at the moment. If we add them, we will update this policy and ask for your consent where the law requires it. The full list, with the names of the cookies, is in our Cookie policy.

Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only in these cases:

  • Service providers that help us run the site, such as our web hosting provider and our email delivery service. They may handle your information only to provide their service to us.
  • Profile pictures: if you have not uploaded a photo, your avatar may be loaded from Gravatar, a service run by Automattic. This sends a scrambled version of your email address to Gravatar so it can find a matching picture. You can avoid this by uploading a photo.
  • Legal reasons: if the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our members, the public or the site.
  • A change of ownership: if Inzenzo is ever sold or merged, your information may transfer to the new owner, who must respect this policy.

How long we keep information

  • Account and content: until you delete your account, or until we delete it under our Terms.
  • Unverified accounts: if email verification is on and you do not confirm your address, the account is deleted automatically after 7 days.
  • Contact messages: deleted automatically after 90 days, unless we need to keep them longer to resolve your request.
  • Abuse-prevention counters: a few hours at most.
  • Server logs and backups: for a limited time set by our hosting provider, after which they are overwritten or deleted.
  • We may keep limited information longer if the law requires it or to resolve a dispute.

Keeping your information safe

We protect the site with passwords stored in hashed form, email verification for new accounts, rate limits on sign-in and similar actions, limits on who can reach the administration area, and encrypted connections (HTTPS). Evaluations marked private are visible only to their owner. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your personal information, correct it, delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for a copy in a portable format. You can do most of this yourself in Account settings. For anything else, use our contact form. We may need to confirm who you are first, and we will reply within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days.

If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection or privacy regulator.

Children

Inzenzo is not for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us their details, tell us through the contact form and we will delete them.

Where your information is processed

Our hosting and email providers may store and process information in countries other than yours. When they do, we expect them to protect it to a standard consistent with this policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. When a change matters, such as a new type of cookie or a new way of using your information, we will tell you on the site or by email before it applies.
